Established twenty-three years ago in Griswold, Connecticut, the Countryside Campground is known for quiet, family camping. Founded by the Mackin Family, the original purpose of the campground was to provide additional income while maximizing the potential of the beautiful property surrounding our home.
With limited funds provided by the bank, our family established roads and the first twelve campsites. As we built our clientele, and increasing monies became available, we invested in expanding a little at a time. We had a family of six. Everyone worked hard, doing what we could with only the bare necessities. There were times when a toboggan was used to haul dirt and garbage cans were filled to tote leaves. We all had pride in our land and growing business. Today, as always, we are still very much involved in the building and maintenance of our “little piece of heaven” We pride ourselves on clean bath houses and meticulously maintained grounds. After all these years, it’s still a family business.
